Welcome to the September edition of the monthly newsletter where we're currently focused on events to increase the positive experiences at the Bruce while generating more revenue.

 

These events take a lot of hard work to plan and execute and we need your help.  The best way to shape our Bruce Post society is to go to meetings and volunteer.  We hear a lot of great ideas to make the Post better.  We need your help bringing them to life.  Here's how... 

 

The Post Planning Team (Special Events Team) meets the first Tuesday of the month in the Clubroom at 6:30pm.  This is an informal meeting where we look at upcoming events to ensure they're well-planned.  We do this by aligning the several calendars (Post, Auxiliary, Hall, Clubroom, Saint Clair Shores).  With each meeting we look further and further into the future which enables larger event planning and we brainstorm new ideas to improve the experience and fundraise.  For example, The Sr Vices Kevin and Errol are chairing two very large "whole Post" fundraising events next year including "Fam Jam" on June 19th and 20th and Oktoberfest on September 18th and 19th.  Please save these dates as we'll need maximum volunteer participation and attendance to ensure our success. 

 

The Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 and the Post meets the second Wednesday at 7:00pm.  We need you there to help forge our future.

Onto the fun!

 

Events:

The Clubroom will be open outside of normal business hours during Lions games (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas).  Come out and support the Clubroom and cheer on the Lions!  We're offering dollar off drinks for every Lions touchdown.  Please note: must have an active tab and drinks must be consumed same day.  The clubroom will have small raffle baskets during the game Sunday September 28.  Note: total daily raffle value less than $100.

 

Open mics with Errol have restarted on the third Saturdays from 6 - 11pm.  We continue to tweak the format to improve the quality of experience.  We've now added karaoke to the mix.  Please note: live performers will be given priority during open mic.

 

Karaoke with Abi restarts on the fourth Fridays from 8pm-12am starting September 26.

 

On Saturday October 11 from 12pm - 12am Errol and Kevin are hosting the Third Annual Fall Music Fundraiser.  We have live music by: Flashback (9pm), Aqua Monkey (8pm), The Shaffer Bros. (7pm), Rebel Pilots (6pm), The Detroit Agents (5pm), Krissie Reardon (4pm), Bill Hamill (3pm), Michelle Wolf (2pm), The Garbageman FSS (1pm).  $10 donation (doors only).  50/50 and barrel of cheer raffle.  Open to the public.  Michigan charitable gaming license number (X13073).  Seeking donations for the barrel of cheer.  See Errol or Kevin or click here for more details.

 

On Saturday October 25 at 7pm the Auxiliary hosts their semi-annual Meat Raffle/Feather Party in the Large Hall.  Open to the public.

 

On Saturday November 8 (the weekend before Veteran's Day) we have a busy day of fun and giving back and having fun:  

 

  • From 9am - 2pm Scouting America is holding their Scouting for Food Campaign where they'll be collecting non-perishable foods for disadvantaged families in the area.  See Jr Vice James Hermes or click here more information.
  • At 11:30am Marrisa and Errol host the Second Annual Post Crawl.  We rent a bus to take us to different Posts in the 5th District (New Baltimore, Richmond, and Fraser).  The signup sheet is posted near the ship's wheel.  Seating is limited and reservations will be booked on an as paid basis.  We're estimating the cost at $35 for the bus rental and Buddy Poppy Donations (to the host Posts) only.
  • At 7pm Amy Beltz is hosting her annual Buddy Poppy Fundraiser in the Clubroom where there will be live entertainment by Aqua Monkey at 8pm and 50/50 and raffle basket drawings.  Please contact Amy at 1146FBteam@gmail.com if you would like to donate any items/raffle baskets.

 

Jeanne Reske is selling raffle tickets for a Lions sign with $100 worth of Lions scratch offs (state raffle license pending).

 

Family Feud is back!  Join us Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday November 29 for a 5pm check in and 6pm start.  Tickets go on sale Saturday October 11 at 12pm.

 

Attention we're seeking donations for used video gaming systems (especially Wii) to set up in the Clubroom.  See Errol or Teri Priebe for more information.
